The Supplier Quality Engineer will support Starline by effectively and proactively ensuring the highest possible quality levels for products, processes, and purchased components.
This involves building strong relationships with the suppliers and review of supplier-related processes such as qualification, development, integration, monitoring, and auditing.
This also includes leading or supporting teams focused on quality improvement events or cost reduction activities.
Main Job Duties:
Manages supplier relationships and works to improve overall supplier performance Perform supplier quality audits and review to qualify and assess supplier's quality and manufacturing capabilities Maintain and Analyze Key Performance Indicators and COPQ data to identify recurring trends and drive improvement actions to reduce internal and external failure costs Monitors and communicates supplier performance for delivery, quality, and cost management Assist in investigations to determine root cause(s) of product defects including field and internal failures Apply appropriate control plans to achieve problem containment, and then drive corrective and preventative actions to address the determined problem(s) Drive Supplier actions to verify part and process quality at the Supplier's location to reduce the need for incoming inspection activities within Starline Research potential Suppliers and/or Service Providers to meet sourcing requirements, as applicable Contributes to charters that define cost reductions, assess business impact, develop, and implement sustainable solutions Understanding of AIAG methodologies including APQP and PPAP toolset Maintains Supplier Management processes (e.
g.
qualification, selection, evaluation, development, classification); update supplier evaluation systems to obtain the best suppliers and ensure transparency Plans work and personal development goals, working in conjunction with the manager as needed Contributes to the implementation and ensure the usage of globally defined methods, processes, and systems to ensure high process efficiency and process compliance Other job duties as assigned QualificationsEducation and
Experience:
BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred or equivalent years of experience Minimum 4 years of Quality Engineering or Supplier Quality Engineering experience 3-5 years of experience in an engineer role preferably in an electronics or power systems environment Experience with mechanical and electrical systems, specifically in engineering design, metal fabrication, and drafting Experience working with suppliers, preferably in a supplier development role that includes audits, and reviews MRP or ERP software experience required Infor Cloud preferred Current ASQ CQA or CQE certification is highly desirable.
RAB auditor accreditation preferred Advanced in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Ability to travel up to 30% Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Possess Root Cause Analysis tool kit including 8-D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto Chart, and other relevant tools Flexibility to adjust and thrive in an environment with changing requirements, schedules, and priorities for multiple projects and assignments Displays team leadership capabilities, along with good presentation techniques.
Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops systems for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation Self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently as well as work well in groups Complex problem-solving skills, the ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions Critical thinking skills - able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems Well-developed communication skills; able to clearly and concisely express information (or data) to associates, peers, and management Working Conditions / Physical Requirements Primary environment:
ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment The performance of this position will require exposure to manufacturing areas where certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection as well as adhering to supplier site requirements Regularly required to stand; walk and communicate with others Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time; ability to fly for extended periods of time Able to lift and carry up to 25lbs Note:
